On December 27, the 2017 awarding ceremony for the selection activity under the theme“SOE and Beijing Role Model”was held, and tenprize winners were announced. Since May2017, when the selection was launched, a total of 48 enterprises have selected 264 candidates who boast traits including “diligence and dedication, honesty and trustworthiness, the spirit of reform and innovation, outstanding management skills, excellent marketing skills, capabilities of tapping new resources and economizing on expenditure, helping others, acting bravely for a just cause, filial piety,zealfor public welfare”. In the end, 10 “role models” including Han Jinzhong, the representative of Beijing Enterprises, won the awards.

Han Jinzhong is the head of Hongtudian gas supply station of Beijing LPGas Company, a subsidiary of Beijing Gas Group. Since 2000, he has delivered gas for free to families of military soldiers, repaired stoves for the elderly living alone and provided free gas services and living assistance for residents with disabilities. Throughout the years, Han Jinzhong’s hard work has shown his loyalty and commitment as a CPC member and an SOE employee.

By now, Han Jinzhong has sent more than 12,000 tanks of gas and repaired over 1,780 stoves. His love for the military and soldiers’ families as well as his devotion to public welfare are also firmly engraved in the hearts of the people. Han has been rated as “National Filial Piety Model”, Beijing “Ten Thousand Filial Piety Model”, and Beijing community “Star of Volunteers”. Under his leadership, Hongtudian supply station was also rated as a model station in Hujialou area.

The “SOE and Beijing Role Model” award, which was first launched by Beijing State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission in 2014, has been held for four consecutive sessions so far. As an important move for state-owned enterprises in the capital of China to cultivate and practice the core values of socialism, the award has established the image of SOE figures who are “striving for excellence, devoted to public welfare”. The award highlights the main role of SOEs in Beijing’s economic and social development, and arouses the enthusiasm of cadres and workers to actively participate in the reform and development of SOEs.
